At the CLC you will:
- Learn how to identify major Manitoba crops;
- Crush canola to make your own oil;
- Taste the seeds of the land;
- Sweep for insects;
- Ride behind a tractor pulled wagon;
- Sit in a tractor;
- And much, much more...
Who should visit?
The CLC tours are geared for students and their educators.
Each tour is unique, as it will cater to the number and age of students visiting.
When can you visit?
School tours run in the month of June and summer tours are held for daycare centers and youth groups in July and August.
A complete CLC experience takes 2 to 3 hours but can be altered to accommodate any time frame.
Where is the Canola Learning Centre?
The CLC is located at Kelburn Farm approximately 10 minutes south of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Kelburn Farm is a 500-acre grain research and plot test site owned and operated by Richardson International.
Why should we learn about agriculture?
The Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA) believes that the CLC creates awareness about agriculture in urban children, an under-reached audience, who will become the decision-makers of tomorrow.
MCGA feels that it is important to educate, intrigue and inform children about agriculture to insure sustainability of the industry. |
