Manitoba canola growers will go to the Polls

For immediate release:

November 8, 2007:

Members of the Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA) are going to the polls this fall.   MCGA President Brian Chorney says “MCGA is very pleased with the interest our members have shown in this election. An election means that the organization is healthy and that there are producers out there that are willing to get involved.”

Candidates had until October 31, 2007 to submit their nominations to the MCGA office.  At the deadline, there were 5 candidates that put their names forward.

Brad Day of Deloraine and Tom Kieper of Russell decided not to run again.  Brad has been a board member since 1999 and Tom Kieper has completed his 4 year term with MCGA.   Both Tom and Brad remain directors until after the AGM meeting Monday January 14, 2008.

Bruce Dalgarno of Newdale and Dale Gryba of Gilbert Plains, incumbents Directors to MCGA, along with Barry Chappell of Hamiota, Clayton Harder of Winnipeg and Robert Pettinger of Elgin will be running for the four spots on the board of directors.

Meyers Norris and Penny LLP’s have been hired again to run the elections.  On November 15, ballots will be mailed to 9,000 MCGA members.  Members have until December 10, 2007 to return their ballots and counting will occur on December 11, 2007.

The winners will be posted on our website and will be sent to the media as soon and MCGA knows the results.
